If you run a ValueJet and an XpertJet side by side, you have probably wondered how much of your spares shelf can serve both machines. More than most people expect — but not along the lines the model names suggest.
We sell parts for both ranges, and the pattern in our orders is consistent. What a part fits has almost nothing to do with whether the badge says ValueJet or XpertJet. It follows the printhead generation, the maintenance station design and the ink system. Here is where the real boundaries sit, with the part numbers to check them against.
Print heads
Start here, because the head decides most of the rest.
The I9472 head assembly DH-40275 is the clearest crossover in the Mutoh range. It fits the VJ-1638X, VJ-1938X and VJ-2638X, and it fits the XPJ-1682SR, XPJ-1682SRK and XPJ-1682D. Three ValueJets and three XpertJets, one part number.
Go back one generation and the crossover disappears entirely. The IA5540 head DG-43988 fits nine machines — VJ-628 and VJ-1624 / VJ-1924 variants — and not a single XpertJet.
Ink type then splits the same head again. The I9472 family ships as DH-40865 for the UF machines (VJ-426UF, VJ-626UF, VJ-1626UH, XPJ-461UF, XPJ-661UF) and DH-40866 for the UH and UR machines (VJ-1638UH, VJ-1638UH2, VJ-1638UR, VJ-1638UR2). Both are I9472 heads. Neither list touches the other. A head that physically drops in is not the same thing as the right head, so check the head ID on the one you are pulling out before you order.
Dampers and valve heads
Dampers follow the head, not the chassis, which is why they travel further than almost anything else. The valve head DH-40732 is listed for 26 machines — 14 ValueJet and 11 XpertJet. If you keep one damper on the shelf for a mixed fleet, that is usually the one.
The rule still applies: it follows the head generation. Two machines in the same shop running different head generations need different dampers, whatever their badges say.
Wipers, caps and capping stations
Maintenance parts group by design era, and they group generously. The Wiper (S) DG-43497 covers 23 machines, split almost evenly at 12 ValueJet and 11 XpertJet. The cutter cap DG-43498 covers 28, again split down the middle.
Capping stations are the opposite. DG-49294 is listed for five machines, all of them XpertJet 1682 variants, and nothing else. Same section of the machine, completely different fitment logic.
SR and SR Pro are not the same machine
This is where we see the most wrong orders.
The XPJ-1682SR uses a one-piece capping station, DG-49294. The XPJ-1682SR-P does not. On the Pro the same function splits into two parts: the cap slider DH-41916 and the head cap DH-41917. Different design, different numbers, no overlap.
Wiper solenoids split the same way. DH-40600 covers the SR machines — XPJ-1641SR, XPJ-1682SR, XPJ-1682SRK, XPJ-1682D, XPJ-1682WR, XPJ-1682WRK. DH-40176 covers the Pro machines — XPJ-1641SR-P, XPJ-1682SR-P, XPJ-1682SR-PK and the 1642WR family. Same job, near enough identical on the shelf, two part numbers.
If your model number carries a P, that P changes the parts list. Read it off the plate on the machine, not off an old invoice.
Boards, switches and sensors: it depends which board
You will often see it written that boards and sensors are model specific. That is only half right, and the half that is wrong costs people money.
Control boards are model specific, sharply so. The main board DG-49260 fits five XpertJets. DG-42958 fits seven ValueJets. There is no crossover between them at all.
Power and mechanical parts are the exact opposite. The power supply board DG-46873 is listed for 62 machines — 35 ValueJet, 21 XpertJet, plus the RJ-900X series and the HA-1642. The cover switch DG-42956 covers 63. The CR return pulley DF-43868 covers 44. These are among the widest-fitting parts Mutoh makes, and they cross the two product lines without difficulty.
A working shortcut: if the part processes data, assume it is model specific. If it delivers power or does something mechanical, check the list — it may well cover your whole fleet.
How to check before you order
Take the model number off the plate on the machine, suffix included — the P, the K, the WX. Then match on the part number rather than the description. "Wiper solenoid for Mutoh XpertJet" describes two different parts, and only one of them fits your machine.
