Related Error Codes

The UF flatbed series uses its own error code set, which differs from the roll-fed XpertJet models. The codes below are those listed in the XPJ-661UF service manual.

• Board and memory — main board is the only cause listed: the full E016 range of CPU errors (interrupt, TLB, address, bus, system call, break point, coprocessor, overflow, trap, floating point, watchdog and abort), E097 (NVRAM) and E155 (abnormal end, defect in CPU memory)
• Motor and carriage: E065, E066, E067, E068, E069, E070, E071, E072, E073, E074 and E092
• Head: E087 (head transistor thermistor) — a defect in the head transistor temperature sensing on the main board, or the print head itself
• Print gap: E240 (PG origin) and E241 (PG limit), where the PG sensor assembly is listed alongside the main board

Related Symptoms

The main board is listed in the Mutoh service manual as a possible cause of:

• The printer not printing at all, or not printing continuously
• Extra media fed after a print
• A page printed entirely black
• Blurred borders or unevenly printed images
• Printing in the wrong position, or part of the data missing
• Unwanted dots (satellites) on the print
• Cleaning cycles that fail to clear clogged nozzles
• The printer not powering on, the LCD malfunctioning, or the system hanging

Check the Firmware First

For three faults the manual points at firmware before the board:

• Printer not printing continuously — incorrect firmware on the main side is listed ahead of the main board
• Extra media fed after a print — firmware is again listed ahead of the board
• Garbled data or printing — firmware is the only cause listed; the main board is not named at all

Confirm your firmware version before ordering a board. If the cause is firmware, a new board will not fix it.

Before You Order

On the motor and carriage codes the main board is listed last, behind the T fence, CR motor, PF motor and CR board — all of which are cheaper.
